Loanify

Is Loanify legit? How to verify any online lender

A fair question to ask before sharing your Social Security number with anyone. Here's how to check Loanify, or any online lender, in about ten minutes.

The short answer

You should never take any lender's word that it's legitimate, including ours. A trustworthy lender makes it easy to verify the things that matter: who makes the loan, what it costs, how your data is protected and how to complain if something goes wrong. Below is the same checklist our compliance team uses when reviewing lending partners, followed by how Loanify answers each point.

An 8-point checklist for any online lender

  1. APR is shown before you commit. The Truth in Lending Act requires the APR, finance charge and total of payments to be disclosed before you sign.
  2. No upfront fees to receive a loan. Legitimate lenders deduct any origination fee from the loan or add it to the balance. They don't ask you to pay first.
  3. The lender is identified. Your loan agreement should name the company making the loan and its licensing information.
  4. A secure website. Look for HTTPS on every page where you enter personal data.
  5. A privacy policy that explains sharing. It should state what's collected, who it's shared with and whether data is sold.
  6. A clear complaint path. Contact details plus a reference to the CFPB or your state regulator.
  7. Realistic promises. No "guaranteed approval" or "no credit check, any amount" claims.
  8. Consistent information. Rates, amounts and terms match across the website, the offer and the agreement.

Lending tip from the Loanify Editorial Team

Red flags that signal a loan scam

  • Requests for payment by gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency or a payment app before funding
  • Calls or texts you didn't request, especially urging you to "act today"
  • "Guaranteed approval" regardless of credit or income
  • Requests for your online banking password (a lender never needs it)
  • A website with no privacy policy, no disclosures or no way to contact a real person
  • An email domain that doesn't match the lender's website
Impersonation scamsScammers sometimes use real lender names, including "Loanify." Loanify only contacts you about an application you started, and only from an @loanifyloan.com email address. If you're unsure, stop and contact Loanify support directly.

If you think you've been targeted

  1. Stop communicating and don't send money.
  2. If you shared bank details, call your bank's fraud line right away.
  3. If you shared your SSN, place a free fraud alert with one credit bureau (it notifies the others) or freeze your credit.
  4. Report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and, for identity theft, IdentityTheft.gov.
  5. If the scammer used the Loanify name, tell us so we can warn other borrowers.

Frequently asked questions

Is Loanify a real company?

Loanify operates loanifyloan.com and publishes its rates, disclosures, privacy policy and editorial standards openly. Your loan agreement names the lender and its licensing details.

Does Loanify ever ask for an upfront fee?

No. Any request to pay money before receiving a loan is a scam, even if it uses the Loanify name.

How do I know an email is really from Loanify?

Genuine emails come from an @loanifyloan.com address and relate to an application you started. When in doubt, contact support directly rather than replying.
